Ruth M Finn, 92, of Patch Grove, died Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. 

She was born on Jan. 13, 1928, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of John and Sarah (Hammel) Tischhauser. 

At an early age, her family moved to a farm in Patch Grove. Ruth started school in Patch Grove and graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1945. She attended school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison for one year before moving to Dubuque, Iowa, where she worked in the office at Finley Hospital. Eventually she came back to the farm to help her parents. In 1949, Ruth married Lawrence Finn. They became the parents of one son, John Finn. She was also the stepmother to Caroline, Lyle, Dorothy and Larry Finn.

Survivors include her son, John Finn; grandchildren, Kiley Finn, Penny Finn, Maria (Dan) Hoffman, and Kayle Finn; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Abby Hoffman; her brother, Dale (Jackie) Tischhauser; stepsons, Lyle (Glenda) Finn and Larry Finn. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lawrence, Ruth was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nora; her sister, LaVonne; daughter-in-law, Terri Finn; and stepdaughters, Caroline and Dorothy. 

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Bloomington is entrusted with her care. 

Her family would like to thank Orchard Manor for the care she received for the last nine months.
