Helen J. (Benish) Noethe, 96, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Patch Grove, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Prairie Maison Care Center in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born Oct 16, 1923, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Louis and Jessie (Wachuta) Benish. She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School and received her nurse’s training at the Prairie du Chien Sanitarium. She married Lavern Noethe in 1943, who later preceded her in death in 1995. They moved to the Patch Grove area, where they farmed until moving to Prairie du Chien in 1970. She was an active member of the St. John’s Church in Patch Grove and was involved in many church, school, and community activities. She loved to crochet, read, play cards, and spend time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Darrell (Cheryl) Noethe of Bloomington; her daughter, Gayla Wright of Ft. Myers, Fla.; her sisters, Gloria Schmidt and Doris Buening, both of Prairie du Chien; her brother, Robert (Phyllis) Benish of LaCrosse; her grandchildren, Dean (Andrea) Noethe of Lancaster, and Jodi (Joe Bellaugh) Noethe of Hazel Green; and her great-grandchildren, Preston and Brinley Noethe. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lawrence, Lavern, and Jack Benish; and her sisters, Evelyn Falb, Leone Becwar, Marge Kalina and Bernice Wellendorf.

According to Helen’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Patch Grove. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
