Gary "Mike" Masuen, 83, of Garnavillo, died Feb. 29, 2020, in his home.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Mike was born on Jan. 21, 1937, son of Herbert and Theresa (Miller) Masuen. He lived his whole life in Garnavillo. His baptism, first holy communion and confirmation took place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garnavillo.

He received his education at St. Joseph's Catholic School and the Garnavillo High School.

Mike went to work at Masuen's Meat and Locker Plant at the age of 13. He worked there until the business closed after 42 years in business. He then worked at the Farmersburg Locker plant and was part time cook at the Kountry Manor.

Mike is survived by two sisters, Pat (George) Cudworth of Lake Bluff, Ill., and Karen (Harvey) Torrey of Guttenberg; one brother, James Masuen of Marion; four nieces, Stephanie, Kim, Darcy and Brenda; two great-nephews and three great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David.

Mike was still wise cracking for he was good at that. We could never get one step ahead of him!

Let eternal rest grant onto Mike, O Lord and let perpetural light shine upon him always.

We love you brother, rest in peace. We will miss you.
