Eleven Prairie matmen advance to sectional
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the WIAA Wrestling Tournament series started in Wisconsin.
Prairie du Chien was host for a WIAA D2 Regional, with seven teams competing for the crown.
The PdC grapplers showed up to wrestle, and came away with a Regional Championship, marking the third consecutive year the Hawks have done so.
PdC scored 284 points on their way to a very convincing win. Monroe finished second with 171 points.
Every wrestler in the PdC lineup scored points. At the end of the day, the Hawks advanced 11 wrestlers to next weekend’s sectional. All 11 were Regional Champs, an unprecedented feat in the history of PdC wrestling.
Champions were: Rhett Koenig (106#), Ryder Koenig (113#), Maddox Cejka (120#), Luke Kramer (126#), Matt Rogge (132#), Kurt Wall (138#), Chase Fisher (145#), Traeton Saint (160#), Bradyn Saint (170#), Tyler Hannah (195#), and Colten Wall (220#). In addition, Ben Riter (182#) finished third and Brogan Brewer (152#) and Brice Martin (285#) finished sixth.
On Saturday, the Blackhawks will be in Evansville for individual sectionals. Go Hawks!
