Patrick William McTaggart, 70, of Elkader, died Sunday, January 19, 2020, at his home. He was born in Mason City on June 6, 1949, to William Neal and Mary Virginia (Looney) McTaggart. As a young man, he worked for his dad, Bill, and his uncle, Don, who were co-owners of McTaggart’s Furniture in Elkader. He graduated from Central Community High School and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette where he earned a degree in history. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on September 26, 1977.

Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 3 to 5:45 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, with a Scripture Service at 6 p.m. There will also be a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday February 22. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Elkader In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elkader Fire Department. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family..
