John B. Meng, 76, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, of complications from lung and heart disease. 

John was born July 20, 1943, the son of Richard and Dorothea (Williams) Meng. He worked in construction and was an avid sports fan. He loved playing basketball and baseball as a young man. John enjoyed his work as a crossing guard near the B.A. Kennedy Elementary School. 

He is survived by his wife, Caralyn; his children, Jodi (Bill) Fischer, Lori (Darren) Geldard, Brynn (Craig Cummins) Junk, Christopher Junk and Adam (Kaitlyn) Junk; his sister, Bonnie (Fritz) Schunke; his grandchildren, Lukas (Jenni), Hali, Dylan, Cory, Aven, Jonathan, Dax, Lenyx and Koyier; his great-grandchildren, Jameson, Leland and Kinsley. He was preceded in death by his parents, four half sisters and a half brother. 

According to John’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
