Gary E. Vogt, 73, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.

He was born Nov 11, 1946, the son of Eugene and Lucille (Vorwald) Vogt.

Gary graduated Bloomington High School in 1964. On July 24, 1965 he was united into marriage to Patricia A. “Pat” Piddington. Gary worked in Madison, and later in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1969 Gary and Pat moved back to Bloomington and began farming the Vogt Family Farm. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4416, where he served as Past Grand Knight, and Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Bloomington Booster Club and enjoyed watching the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. In 1986 Gary retired from the farm and was employed with Wyalusing Academy, Southwest Bus Service, Spring Green Lawn Care, and Meader Book Company. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and camping with his family in Warrens. Gary dearly loved his family and keeping up with their activities and his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving is his son, Steven T. (Brenda) Vogt; his daughter, Tina M. (Fred West) Vogt; grandchildren Chantelle, Courtney ( fiancé Cassidy Gabioud), Brandon, Skylar, and Quincy; his sisters; Sharon (Bill) Stoeffler, Elaine (Doug) Olson, and Deb (Lynn) Myers, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother Kenny and the mother of his children Patricia A. “Pat” Vogt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday Ja.n 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Bloomington is assisting the family.
