Robert L. Tyler
Robert LeRoy Tyler, 84, of Guttenberg, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 30, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Harold McMillin. Visitation was before services at the funeral home.
Robert was born on Feb. 10, 1935, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., the son of Arthur and Goldie Tyler.
Robert received his education locally and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 where he received an honorable discharge. On May 7, 1955, Robert was united in marriage with Bonnie Topel. Robert and Bonnie lived and worked in the Quad City area where Robert worked for Oscar Mayer for 32 years. He and Bonnie moved to Guttenberg where they resided on Abel Island. Robert loved living on the water and spent a great deal of time fishing as well as ice fishing.
Robert and Bonnie had five sons, Daniel, twins, Ronnie and Donnie, Jamie and Robert Jr.; eight grandchildren, Holly, Kelly, Dave, Keith, Curtis, Hunter, Megan and Melisa; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; five siblings, Pearl, Arthur Jr “Bud”, Beverly, Shirley and Jerry.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Donnie and Ronnie; two sisters and one brother.
