Unbeaten Wauzeka-Steuben is the conference champion

Jordan Mormann takes a big lead off of second base following a double.

 

Wauzeka-Steuben beat visiting Weston 11-3 to clinch the Ridge and Valley Conference crown Monday afternoon.

Tabitha Check picked up the victory for the Lady Hornets. Check fanned 6 and walked 2 while giving up 3 hits in 7 innings.

Jordan Mormann smashed a home run as 1 of her 2 hits for the game. Alexis Wielepski, Peyton Mindham and Gabby Groom each had 2 hits.

Wauzeka-Steuben won their first conference title in four years. They are 19-0 on the season and 14-0 in conference action. A couple of the larger schools the team has beaten this season include Reedsburg and Richland Center.

“The girls work hard day in and day out no matter if we are at practice or playing a game,” said Coach Angie Check. “They push each other to do better every day. We are a well rounded team.”
