Joyce M. Kleven, 88, of Eastman, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Prairie Maison Care Center. 

She was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Ferryville, the daughter of Byron and Mandy (Burkum) Lawrence. 

She married Floyd Kleven on Jan. 25, 1952, in Ferryville. Together they farmed and both enjoyed square dancing. Joyce worked at the Ferryville Bank and belonged to the Eastman Stitch and Chatter Homemakers. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in sports and looked forward to her annual trip with Krystal to see the Milwaukee Brewers. 

Floyd preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2008. 

She is survived by her children, Jill (Roger) Forde, of Eastman, Jo (Craig) Sommers, of Boscobel, and Scott (Brenda) Kleven, of Eastman; her sisters, Georgia Copsey of Aurora, Colo. and Peggy Ketterer of Chilleclothe, Ill.; her brother, Gary (Helen) Lawrence, of Westminster, Colo.; grandchildren, Travis (Tasha) and Krystal (Brian Pink) Forde, Brad (Kelsey) Kleven and Brittney (Travis) McGee; eight great-grandchildren and Kelly (Gary) Hamann, who Joyce considered a granddaughter. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great-granddaughter, Noel; a brother, Paul Lawrence; brothers-in-law, Don Copsey and Bob Ketterer. 

A memorial service will be Wednesday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church, Pastor Lynn Schreck officiating with interment in the Shanghai Ridge Cemetery, both in Eastman. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 23,  from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Salem United Methodist Church.
