On Feb. 25, the Prairie du Chien girls basketball team hosted Wisconsin Dells in Regional Final action.

Once again, Prairie came out hot and jumped to a 8-2 lead. The Dells continued to fight back to tie the game halfway through the first half. However, PdC played solid defense and was able to go into the half up 25-13.

Prairie and the Dells continued to trade baskets at the start of the second half. However, the Dells fought back and brought the score to within 4 with less than 5 minutes to go.

As they did previously, Prairie knocked down free throws to prevail with a final of 61-48 and claim the regional championship.

Lily Krahn led PdC with 22. Macey Banasik added 14 and 6 boards. Gabby Ritchie added 13 points, going 7 for 8 from the free throw line. Makenzie Knapp added 5, Allison Allbee added 4, Abby Feye chipped in 2, and Ella Hager finished with 1.

Prairie du Chien improved to 20-1 on the season. Wisconsin Dells finished at 19-5.

Top-seeded Prairie, the fourth-ranked team in Division 3, will travel to Madison Edgewood on Feb. 28 to take on second-seeded Platteville in the sectional semifinal game.
