The new lobby will feature current trends in the lodging industry.

The AmericInn Lodge & Suites has been part of the downtown landscape for 20 years, but that is about to change. It will soon become the River District Hotel.

Owner Paul Krienke explained the reason for the change, “We felt our affiliation with AmericInn limited our drive for excellence. We will now be free to put feet to big dreams and tell about them on our own website.”

The new name captures the idea of being the gateway hotel to all that is Prairie du Chien and the surrounding area. “River District Hotel identifies us with the river and all that there is to do in the river district,” said Chris Meyer, who will continue as manager of the hotel. “We want to partner with the tourist-related businesses to drive additional revenue their way. This is a major focus for us. We want to keep the traveler so busy they will stay an additional night with us.”

Preparation for this change began last year with an exterior upgrade. New carpet, high-end mattresses and a contemporary fireplace have been added recently. A professional design company has designed a new lobby and breakfast area to include current trends in the lodging industry. Dalton Brand Catalyst Inc., of Minneapolis, has been retained to bring professional quality to all communication, including the new website, www.riverdistricthotel.com.

The new River District Hotel sign should be up late this week or next week, Meyer said.

She also noted that the hotel will remain open and accommodating to guests during transition construction.

A July grand opening is planned.
