Robert V. “Bob” Schmidt
Robert V. “Bob” Schmidt, 67, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 17, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
Bob was born Dec. 31, 1950, in Prairie du Chien one of twin sons to Vincent and Caroline (Flansburgh) Schmidt. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bob also delivered fuel and oil throughout the area for several different companies. He enjoyed his cabin, hunting, four wheeling and visiting yard sales. He was a member of the Eagles Club Aerie 1502.
Bob is survived by his twin brother Randy Schmidt, of Prairie du Chien; his sisters, Mary (Eugene) Fritsche, of Steuben, and Kathy (Roger) Slama, of Eastman; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Sandy Mulholland, of Prairie du Chien.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, May 22, at 11 a.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Bob’s name for the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
