Prairie rallies past Platteville
Prairie du Chien rallied for 6 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip visiting Platteville 8-7 in an SWC baseball game Tuesday afternoon.
Prairie du Chien took a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Platteville scored a run in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1.
Each team scored a run in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.
The Hillmen rallied for 5 big runs in the top of the seventh to grab a 7-2 advantage.
Prairie du Chien would not give in, however, and erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of the seventh to improve to 8-0 atop the SWC.
Each team had 6 hits in the contest. Platteville committed 2 errors. Prairie du Chien committed a whopping 8 errors.
Dylan Coleman went 1x3 with an RBI for the Blackhawks. Grant Martin was 1x3 with 2 RBI. Drake Coleman was 1x2. Cory Check was 1x3 with 2 RBI. Hunter Davis was 1x3 with 2 RBI. Clayton DuCharme was 1x2.
Ryan McGrath picked up the pitching win. He struck out 2 and walked 1 while giving up 2 earned runs in 2 innings. Cory Check started for Prairie du Chien. He fanned 4 and walked 6 while allowing 1 earned run in 5 innings.
Prairie du Chien is now 12-1-1 overall and 8-0 in the SWC, clinching at least a share of the conference championship.
