“We had a spectacular day for weather and that allowed us to have some great performances against the excellent competition that our conference always has,” Coach Mark Bauder said. “Nearly every event has multiple teams with state level ranking athletes. We had season bests in 10 of the 19 events and placed in the top 3 in 13 of the 19 events.’
“Conference champions included sprint med relay of Lenth, Maddy Wille, Mary Kate Wille, and Deitchler; the 4x800 relay of Deitchler , Desi Weber, Riley Schroeder and Mueller; and Mueller in the 1500 m,” Coach Bauder continued . “Conference runner-up included the distance med relay of Rentschler, L. “Some special highlights were our 1500 meter runners—Jasmine Mueller and Danielle Weber going one and two with a spectacular finish and giving us a much needed 18 points for our team total,” Coach Bauder said. “Four other events did a great job and double placed for us as well—our high jumpers, Brittni Tieden and Mackenzie Vlazny double placing and giving us 9 points for our field events, our 3000 m runners, Zoe barker and Brittni Tieden, who had to battle a bit of heat at the start of the meet, our 100 m sprinters Gabbi Lenth and Maddy Wille and our 400 m runners Riley Schroeder and Sadie Richter. We had a wonderful team effort, with every team member who competed scoring points for us,” Coach Bauder added.

“We have suffered through so many districts with miserable weather over the past few years that this one felt fabulous,” Coach Bauder said. “We had a tiny sprinkle, but overall we couldn’t have asked for better conditions. Preparing for this meet is always tricky but a lot of fun to figure out what other teams will try to do and to figure out our best chances  It is never black and white so we always have some pretty sure things but then some gambles as well. We gambled with a few events, but overall it worked out very well for our state qualifiers and for our team as a whole.”
“Our 2nd place team finish wasn’t a sure thing, as we didn’t know a lot about several of the teams who we thought could give us trouble,” Coach Bauder continued. “But we put together a good line up and everyone did just about everything we needed them to. As it turns out, we qualified in 7 events that include three district champions with the 4x800 of Deitchler, Desi Weber, R. Schroeder and Mueller, Deitchler in the 400 m hurdles, and our 4x2 of Deitchler, Lenth, Wille, and Wille, who beat out an extremely competitive field of teams that included five top-10 rated teams in the state.  The 4x200 went under 1:50 for only the second time in school history, as our current record is 1:49.22 from 2006. Other qualifying events were the sprint med of Lenth, Wille, Wille, and Deitchler, which is currently seeded 6th, the distance med of Mary Kate Wille, Lenth, R. Schroeder, and Desi Deber, which is seeded 18th, Gabbi Lenth in the 100 m is seeded 21st and Jasmine Mueller in the 1500 m run seeded 9th. So our plan is to first of all improve our times and then medal in as many events as we can.”
“Personal records included Eberhardt in the shot put, Beck in the discus, Kluesner and Medberry in the long jump, Tieden and Kluesner in their shuttle splits, Riley Schroeder in her 400 m split, Richter in the 400 m, Mahoney in the 200 m, Kluesner in the 400 m hurdles, and Mueller in the 1500 m,” Coach Bauder added.
