Arleen E. Skaife, 95, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Tuesday, May 1, at the Prairie Maison Care Center. 

 

She was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Millville, the daughter of Edward and Veva (Shackley) Nagle. She married Walter Skaife on April 7, 1945, at St. Mary’s Church in La Crosse. Together they farmed for many years in the Patch Grove area. Arleen was an active member of the United Methodist Church Women’s Circle.Walter preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2014. 

 

She is survived by her children, Sherry Skaife, of Rockford, Ill., Robert (Laurine) Skaife, of Prairie du Chien, Sheila (Charles) Bishell, of Lancaster, and Mike (Coleen) Skaife, of Prairie du Chien; her grandchildren, Steve, Doug and Andy Moore, Lesa Radloff, Kimberly Smith, Ryan Skaife and Traci Konichek; along with 12 great grandchildren. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and six brothers and sisters.

 

Funeral services will be Monday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Barb Cook officiating, with burial in the Union Nagle Cemetery in Patch Grove. Friends may call on Sunday, May 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or Crossing Rivers Hospice.
