Sally Belle (Veit) Scarff
Sally (Veit) Scarff, 85, of McGregor, Iowa, died Feb. 23, at Great River Care Center.
Sally Belle Veit was born April 15, 1932, in McGregor, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Alvina (Toots-Paulson) Veit. She married Paul Scarff Sr. on Aug. 14, 1948. She attended school at Marquette High School, later organizing the first school reunion.
She spent most of her life helping organizations. Throughout her life, she worked with the Community Action Agency in Clayton County, Iowa, working as Center Manager; the Crawford County Counseling Center as Mental Health Worker; the Income Maintenance worker at Social Services, in Elkader, Iowa; as a social worker consultant at Care Center; as a worker at local light plant; and as a licensing agent with the gambling boat Miss Marquette.
Her hobbies were genealogy, putting 1860 census info on the internet for Clayton County, Iowa, and a history of Marquette in the Marquette Museum, fishing, swimming, dancing and playing cards with family, and lots of talking.
Survivors include three daughters, Margo (Jim) Goeke, of Ferryville, Nancy (Bob) Foote, of Gansevoort, N.Y., Sallee (Joe) Scarff-Muelbauer, of McGregor, Iowa; one son, Paul, of Rural Route McGregor, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul Sr., in 1986; one sister, Doris Larson; four adult sons, Frank, Michael, Christopher and David; two daughters-in-law Maggie and Cindy; three grandchildren Hallie, Christopher and Regina; and one brother, Charles Veit, of Milwaukee.
At her request, no services will be held. Cremation is provided by Iowa Cremation Services of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Interment will be held at a later date at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor. Memorials can be directed to the family.
