Municipal offices to be decided in elections on Tuesday, Nov. 7

Residents of Iowa municipalities will go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 7, to elect candidates for terms beginning in January 2018.

A summary of candidates, polling sites, and hours for communities in The Press readership area are as follows.

Guttenberg

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Guttenberg Municipal Building. 

Candidates for mayor are Bill Frommelt and Samuel A. Moser.

There are three candidates for three seats on the city council: Mick Pierce, Virginia Saeugling and Fred Schaub.

There are four candidates for two seats on the hospital board of trustees: Russell Loven, Anna Mae Moser, Susan A. Osterhaus and Jim Solomon.

There are two candidates on the ballot for three open positions on the park board: John Hess and Helene Kuempel. Caroline Rosacker has declared her candidacy as a write-in for the park board.

Garnavillo

Garnavillo residents will vote at the Garnavillo Community Building between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Residents will fill three city council seats from a field of five candidates: Robert J. Bodish, Bonnie Dietrich, Steven J. Kessler, Mathew Mueller and Brenda Murray.

Osterdock

Osterdock residents will vote at the Guttenberg Municipal Building between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The mayor's position and five council seats are up for election. No candidates filed for any of the positions. 

Clayton

Clayton voters will cast their ballots at the Garnavillo Community Building between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

David C. Hart is running unopposed for mayor.

There are five council seats open, but only three candidates filed papers: Max Basemann, Brad Johnson, and Jon Russett.

North Buena Vista

The polling site is the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall in North Buena Vista between the hours of 12 noon and 8 p.m.

Robert Ludovissy is the lone candidate for mayor.

There are five candidates for five seats on the city council: David Breitbach, James Gordon, Diane Ludovissy, Kennith Ludovissy and Lacey Ludovissy.

Elkport

Elkport residents will vote at the Elkport-Garber Community Center from 12 noon to 8 p.m. 

The mayor's position and three council seats are up for election; there are no official candidates.

Garber

Garber residents will vote at the Elkport-Garber Community Center from 12 noon to 8 p.m.

Nioka Schroeder is running unopposed for mayor. There are five openings on the city council, with four candidates on the ballot: Leroy Dugan, Hermie Schroeder, R. Lyle Schroeder and Ed VanLennep.
