On October 19 the Central cross-country team participated in the district meet at Solon High School. 23 schools were represented with 15 complete teams and 112 runners. The girls finished in 1st place with these results:

3. Ciera Deitchler, 20:20; 7. Jasmine Mueller, 21:06; 10. Desi Weber, 21:19; 26. Cassie Larson, 22:42; 32. Danielle Weber, 22:53; 55. Ellie Kuehl, 24:20; 64. Maria Medberry, 25:02.

“After a somewhat roller coaster season for the girls, they were able to rely on their past experience in big meets and were able to take advantage of a window opened up by the other teams running, ” Coach Mark Bauder said. “With the top four teams actually being very close in structure of their top five runners, we ran smart and were able to come out on top.  This first place team finish marks the 6th straight district championship finish for us and our 15th state qualification in the last 22 years. Also, Deitchler, Mueller and Desi Weber become the 31st,  32nd and 33rd Central runners to qualify individually for the state meet since 1994.”

The boys’ event had 160 runners and 23 complete teams.  Central finished 16th with the following results:

61. Luke Tuecke, 19:57; 66. Levi Tuecke. 20:05; 87. Cody Mueller, 20:31; 91. Luke Asche, 20:38; 117. Andrey Shirbroun, 21:38; 139. Parker Klingman, 22:46;  142. Cole Deitchler, 22:56.

“On the boys’ side, the competition was stiff with 160 runners and 23 complete teams, ” Coach Bauder commented.  “We ran hard and saw the last race for a great group of five seniors—the most seniors we’ve had for quite a few years. They are Levi Tuecke, Cody Mueller, Andrey Shirbroun, Cole Deitchler and Parker Klingman. They’ve been super role models and have passed on some great dedication and enthusiasm for our upcoming runners. Hopefully they will continue to help out with our summer running to keep our future runners motivated.”

The next action is the state meet at Fort Dodge on October 28.
