James A. “Jim” Schultz, 68, of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, at his home following an extended illness. 

 

He was born April 24, 1949, in Galena, Ill., the son of Marvin and Helen (Rosenthal) Schultz. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Susan Mullikin on April 24, 2008, in Prairie du Chien. Jim worked at Don’s Transmissions and Prairie Industries. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

 

He is survived by his wife Susan, of Prairie du Chien; his children, Kim (Shawn Lachman) Schultz, of McGregor, Iowa, Jamie (Pam) Schultz and Eric (Jamie) Schultz, both of Prairie du Chien; son-in-law Chris Kessler, of Garnavillo, Iowa; brother Marvin (Joann), of Scales Mound, Ill.; sisters, Sharon (Larry) Dahman and Debra (David) Walz, both of Prairie du Chien; Corrine (Ted) Haas, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; stepbrother, Donald Wall; stepsisters, Patricia Runde and Elizabeth Wubben; along with 13 grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Kenneth Schultz and Stacy Kessler; his stepfather Francis Wall; a sister Darlene Koehler; and a brother Richard.

 

A memorial visitation will be Monday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. A private family inurnment will be later in the Brodtville Cemetery.
