Lyle D. Bedward Sr.
Lyle D. Bedward Sr., 79, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 27, 1938, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Richard and Mildred (Seely) Bedward. Lyle served in the U.S. Army. He married Margaret Jelinek on Nov. 16, 1963, at St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2008.
Growing up he worked as a farmhand on several area farms. He worked for Dodgeville Monuments and later retired from the Bancroft Dairy in Madison after 25 years of service.
He is survived by five sons Lyle (Stacey), of Green Bay, Clint, of Prairie du Chien, David, of Boscobel, Ted (Lori), of Deerfield, and Keith (Jesse), of Hollandale; two daughters Lyline (Joe) Kuckkahn, of Blue River, and Crystal (Bryan) Ziolkowski, of Oconomowoc; a brother, Lloyd (Joanne), of Prairie du Chien; sisters, Janice (Ed) Mell, of Sun Prairie, Bernice (Ivan) Norton and Karen (Jim) Jelinek, both of Madison; a sister-in-law Rocile Bedward, of Cary, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter Annette Cortois; his parents; and a brother Roger.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m., at United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, with burial in the Brodtville Cemetery in Patch Grove. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
