Ruth J. Werges
Ruth Jeanne Werges, 87, of Garnavillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Elkader Care Center.
Visitation was Friday, Aug. 26, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, and one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garnavillo.
Interment was at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
Ruth was born Sept. 14, 1928, to Russell and Virgie (Wilson) Livingston at Volga.
Ruth attended school at Elkader. She spent one year at Corpus Cristie, Texas as a nanny. On Dec. 2, 1945, she married Raymond E. Werges Jr. in Elkader at Peace Church. They were long-time members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.
Jeanne is survived by her children, William (friend, Bev Wirkler) Werges of Garnavillo, Clark (Claudia) Werges of Belvidere, Ill., Kent (Cindy) Werges of Elkader, Paula (friend, Allen Adney) Hubbard of Garnavillo, Gay (Lynn) Hallberg of McGregor, Becky (Wayne) Bacon of Garnavillo, Tracy (Cheri) Werges of Garnavillo and Teresa (Kendall) Strauman of Garnavillo;
many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Bahls, Beverly Beck and Linda French; brother- and sister-in-law Allen and Esther Werges and several nieces and nephews.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Erin Hallberg; grandson, Andre Werges; sisters, Gloria Dettman, Betty Engelhart and brother, Kenneth Livingston; brothers-in-law, Donald Dettman, Allen Engelhart, Harold Bahls; sister-in-law, Charlene Livingston; sister- and brother-in-law Richard and Ila Eye.
