Charles W. Moser, 86, a long time resident of Gunder, and recently of Mount Pleasant, passed away at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant on March 26, 2016.

Charles will be cremated at the Iowa Cremation Society in Cedar Rapids. Per Charles’ request no funeral services are planned. The family plans to have a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.

Charles was born July 29, 1929, in Osterdock, the son of Charlie E. and Margie Pearl (Tomkins) Moser. Charles received his education in rural Osterdock and graduated from Colesburg High School in 1947. He joined the Army in 1948 and was stationed in Japan for three years receiving an honorable discharge in June of 1952. On March 7, 1953, Charles was united in marriage to Fern E. Patrick in Guttenberg. Charles worked as a farm hand at several farms in the Postville area and in later years was a cheese maker at the Gunder Cheese Factory. He enjoyed playing cards, sharing and telling jokes, mowing lawn, helping his neighbors with odd jobs and spending time with friends and family. 

Charles is survived by one son William (Sandra) Moser of Laredo, Texas, and one daughter Jane (Bryce) Creager of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren, Matthew (Holly) Moser, Crystal (Julio) Ortiz, Joseph Moser and friend, Mari Trevino, Adam (Mindy) Creager and Nicholas (Julianne) Creager; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Pace and Joaquin Ortiz; one brother-in-law, Gene Patrick and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers; two sisters; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
