John E. Pake, 77, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, at St. Joseph’s Ministry Hospital in Marshfield. 

He was born July 14, 1938 in Prairie du Chien. John was united in marriage to Shirley A. Backes on Dec. 23, 1961 in Prairie du Chien.

He is survived by his wife Shirley; one son, Thornton (Vicki) Pake; three daughters, LuAnn (Dick) Newlun, Sue McMurry, JoAnn (Eric) Hauge; fifteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews, many friends, and three hunting dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

A Celebration of Life for John will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Thompson Funeral Home 402 Center St. Wonewoc, WI. Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s name to the WC Scholarship Fund, Wonewoc Library Fund, the Shriners, or a charity of your choice. The Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
