Vehicle strikes guardrails
On Monday, Oct. 19, at 4:13 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a disabled vehicle on State Highway 60 near Hummingbird Lane in the township of Wauzeka. It was reported that the vehicle was stopped in the middle of the westbound lane of traffic.
The driver was Jessica H. Leprich, 27, of Richland Center. Leprich was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail on Highway 60 near Georgetown Road.
Leprich drove for another 95 yards off the north shoulder before she got the vehicle back on the roadway. Next, the vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic and struck the guardrail on the south side of the roadway.
On scene was a headlight and a hub cap matching damage to Leprich’s vehicle. Leprich then drove away from the scene for over eight miles until her vehicle broke down. She was unsure about what she hit with her vehicle. She was not injured in the accident. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed by Terry’s Tire and Tow of Boscobel.
Leprich was subsequently arrested for operating with a restricted controlled substance and was issued citations for no insurance, hit and run property adjacent to the highway, failure to notify police of an accident and operating left of center.
Assisting at the scene was the Boscobel Police Department.
