True Value store shaping up
The attractive new Nelson True Value hardware store in Prairie du Chien is coming along rapidly. Last week, framing work was done for offices and a meeting room. Crews are also grinding the floor, painting the interior and focusing on exterior finishes at this time. Additional work to finish the HVAC system has yet to be done as well, according to Marv Bengtson, job superintendent for general contractor Friede & Associates. Owner Dan Kanis said the building is expected to be turned over to True Value for fixturing around Oct. 19. “We’re shooting for a ribbon cutting the second week in December,” he stated, “and a grand opening celebration with sales and giveaways April 1 and 2.” Kanis noted that the farm, ag and paint departments are among the many to be expanded with the new store. Nelson True Value is also seeking historic photographs of Prairie du Chien to be used in a collage displayed on the front wall inside the new facility. Anyone with photos of interest may inquire at the current Prairie du Chien store. (Photo by Correne Martin)
