The Prairie du Chien girls’ golf team hosted their annual Prairie Invitational at the Prairie du Chien Country Club on Friday, Aug. 28. Arcadia, Darlington, G-E-T, Lancaster, Southwestern/Benton/Cuba City, and Westby/Viroqua came to play even though rainy conditions prevailed.

The medalist on the day was G-E-T’s Bailey Schmidt, who carded a 79 in very difficult conditions. She was followed by her sister Madison with an 89. Third, fourth, and fifth-place medals went to Megan Ammann - 72 (Arcadia); Brianna Marcue - 93 (Lancaster); and Abby Reiff - 94 (Southwestern/Benton/Cuba City).

G-E-T captured top team honors with a score of 374. Lancaster followed with a 389 team score.

The Prairie du Chien girls all improved their scores from their last invite, despite the tough conditions. Taylor Hendrickson led the Blackhawks with a 104. Emily Trautsch and Jesse Gutknecht followed with a 113 and 127 respectively.

According to Jesse, “I don’t think I’ve ever been so wet, but it was still a lot of fun.”

The Blackhawks will next take on Lancaster in a dual meet on Thursday, Sept. 3.
