Charles E. Shinko, 74, of Platteville and formerly of Eastman passed away Monday, June 14, at Manor Care in Platteville. 

He was born Jan. 20, 1941 in Prairie du Chien, the son of Thomas and Lola Mae (Bright). He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a welder for American Motors in Janesville. 

He is survived by his sons, Shawn of Eagle, Colo. and Shane (Joan) of Franklin; his mother Lola Shinko of Cuba City; his brothers, Ronald and Tom (Ellen) both of Platteville; his sisters, Mary (Ivan) Doering of Platteville and Sue (Mike) Curtis of Mineral Point. He was preceded in death by his father.

A private family memorial gathering is being planned for a future date. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
