Prairie du Chien bested visiting Mount Horeb 7-3 in a Division 2 regional semifinal baseball game Wednesday afternoon.
There were overcast skies and sprinkles early in the contest. The rain came down harder and the game was halted briefly in the third inning. The sun then appeared for much of the rest of the game.
Mount Horeb got on the board first with a run in the top of the second.
Prairie scored twice in the third to take a 2-1 lead.
The Blackhawks added to their advantage with 2 runs in the fourth to go up 4-1.
The Vikings scored a run in the fifth to get to within 4-2.
Prairie rallied for 3 runs in the sixth to increase the margin to 7-2.
Mount Horeb scored their final run in the top of the seventh as Prairie gained the victory.
Prairie du Chien had 12 hits and committed no errors. Mount Horeb had 7 hits and committed 4 errors.
Casey Hogenson fanned 3 and walked 2 in 7 innings to earn the pitching win.
Peyton Hall was 2x3 with a double for the Blackhawks. Brogan Potter was 2x4. Brian McNett was 3x3 and Dylan Yeomans hit a double.
Number one seed Prairie du Chien improved to 18-6 on the season and advanced to host number two seed River Valley on Friday, June 5.
Mount Horeb ended their season at 10-14.
