Street repairs planned in Monona

Mill and overlay work will be done on several Monona streets this summer after the council gave the go-ahead Monday night.
“This winter, pot holes really opened up,” explained Randy Evanson, speaking to the council.
He said 34 spots need to be addressed, with North Main Street, from the railroad tracks to the edge of town, being the worst. South Main Street, from Kregel Street to Iowa Street, also has several areas that will be addressed. In addition, some work will also be completed on Center Street between Hill Street and West Street, as well as on both Hill Street and Anderson Street, between Center Street and North Street.
The work will cost $17,205 and be completed by Kluesner Construction, of Farley.
“We’re just trying to save the roads now before they get worse,” Evanson said.
Glow Run
Fire Chief Dave Smith updated the council on the fire department-sponsored glow run, which will take place Friday, June 19, kicking off the Hay Days weekend. He said around 190 people are signed up, so far, to run or walk in the 5K, which begins and ends at the city park. That number is on-par with last year’s participation in the inaugural event.
