Evelyn M. Shulka, 79, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, May 22, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, after a brief illness. 

She was born May 21, 1936 in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Charles and Florence (Bovee) Sawvell. Evelyn was a successful local businesswoman who began the Skateway Roller Rink and later owned Prairie Mobile Homes. She also operated a local clothing store and furniture store. She loved to travel. 

She is survived by her children, JoAnn Morarend of LaPorte City, Iowa, Darrell (Jan) Ludvik of Prairie du Chien and Marie (Josh) Dickey of La Crosse; her grandchildren Jessica, Josie, Lindsey and Angela along with six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer, Arnold and Edward Sawvell; her sisters, Violet Keller and Tillie Allington along with her grandson Jeremy Ludvik.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 26, at the Bible Baptist Church, Rev. Andy Doll officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
