LeVerne Walter Troester, 93, of Guttenberg, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Dubuque, after a short battle with liver cancer.

Visitation was Sunday, May 17, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Monday, May 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg.

Interment was at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Guttenberg.

LeVerne was born on Jan. 10, 1922, on the family farm in the Osterdock area to Gustav and Louise Troester.

LeVerne received his education from the local country school. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for 35 years building approximately 25 homes in the Guttenberg area as well as many remodeling jobs. On Sept. 5, 1945, LeVerne was united in marriage with Lorna Mae Stoeffler at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo. LeVerne enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.

LeVerne is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sharon Troester; three granddaughters, Shelli (Tim) Peppmeier, Paula (Dennis Conrad) Kress and Natalie Troester; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Kress; sister-in-law, LaVerne Troester and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Orrin Troester; one sister, Berdina Duwe and one brother, Oscar Troester.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Eric Engelman and his staff, the nurses at Mercy in Dubuque, Hospice of Dubuque and the staff at Heritage Manor for the kindness, compassion and care given to LeVerne.
