Wauzeka-Steuben edged visiting De Soto 4-3 in eight innings Thursday afternoon in Ridge and Valley baseball action.
De Soto took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Jeremy Lessard then belted a 2-run homer to left in the bottom of the fourth to give Wauzeka-Steuben a 2-1 lead.
The Pirates scored a run in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
The Hornets scored in the sixth to take a 3-2 advantage.
De Soto scored a run in the top of the seventh and held Wauzeka-Steuben in the bottom half to send the game into extra innings.
Wauzeka-Steuben scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Isaac Byrne walked. Turner Krachey was hit by a pitch. There was a sacrifice bunt by Jonah Huber. The De Soto pitcher fielded the ball and tried to get the runner from second out at third. The resulting throwing error allowed Isaac Byrne to score the winning run.
Wauzeka-Steuben scored 4 runs on 3 hits and committed 4 errors. De Soto scored 3 runs on 4 hits and committed 2 errors.
Jeramiah Huber fanned 6 in earning the victory.
Lessard was 1x3 with a homer and 2 RBI. Brady Krachey was 1x3 with 1 RBI.
