Marie Lowell, 85, of Guttenberg, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Monday, March 16, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Interment was Wednesday, March 18, at the Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Marie was born on March 25, 1929, in Turkey River Junction, the daughter of James and Elsie (Homann) Bissell.

Marie attended a country school and eventually graduated from the Elkader High School. She later received her teaching certificate from Upper Iowa University and taught at a country school for several years. On Jan. 1, 1951, Marie was united in marriage with Jack Lowell at St. Mary’s Church in Guttenberg. To this union, three children blessed them. Marie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as treasurer. She was also involved with the AMVETS and Eagles Club. Marie was a SHARE worker and treasurer, Sunday School teacher and treasurer, member of DORCAS, TOPS and she was a very long time supporter and worker for the Guttenberg Meal Site. Marie enjoyed taking car rides in the evening, working in her flower garden, playing cards and eating ice cream.

Marie is survived by her three children, Jackie (John) Kitch of Carroll, Roger (Kim) Lowell of Guttenberg and Carolyn Lowell of Carroll; two grandchildren, Crystal (Matt) Farrell, Doug (fiancé, Allyson Hess) Kitch; one great-granddaughter, Amberlyn Farrell; two sisters, Kathleen Bente, Hulda (Ronald) Honn and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Dayle Kitch; siblings, Nadine Beldon, Edward Bissell, Royce Bissell, Jack Bissell, Kay Williamson and Jean Tuecke.
