Beatrice (Bea) Ilene Johansen, 80, of Aplington, formally of Littleton, died at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, from complications of pneumonia.  

Bea was a giving woman right up until the end; she donated her body to the University of Iowa. Because of this no services are planned at this time.

Bea was born the daughter of Frank and Beula (Manson) Wilcox on Sept. 7, 1934, in Arlington. Bea received her education in Arlington.    

On Sept. 11, 1951, Bea was united in marriage to Ralph Woodward. They later divorced. Bea then married Millard Johansen on Oct. 13, 1990. Millard passed away June 14, 2001.  

Bea worked at various grocery stores while raising her seven children.  Her most notable job was at the Jesup Post Office as a mail carrier. Bea retired in 1996 after 16 ½ years of service.  

Bea was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed dancing, country music, crocheting, playing cards, gardening and working in her flower beds. Most of all, Bea loved time spent with her family. 

Bea is survived by her children, Linda Lambert of Waterloo, Pamm (Doug) Geuder, of Volga, Maggie (Clark) Collins of Guttenberg, Mark (Jean) Woodward of Conifer, Colo., Deanna (J.R.) Underwood of Aplington, Brian (Phyllis) Woodward of Hazelton, Troy Johansen and Scott Johansen of West Union; daughter-in-law, Julie Woodward of Jesup; special friend and companion of 12 years, Raymond “Gene” Lantz of Strawberry Point; one brother, Mike Wilcox of Texas; two sisters, Jeanne (Dan) Peoples of California and Delores (Leon) Duckett of Fairbank; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Johansen; one son, Mike Woodward; one daughter, Suzi Woodward; one grandson, Wade Mangrich; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Goldsmith; her parents; her step-father, Vernon Shaw, Sr.; her step-mother, Joanne Wilcox; one brother, Vernon Shaw, Jr.; and two sisters-in-law. 

Memorials and condolences may be sent to the family.
