Dorothy H. Hulbert, 85, of Elkader, died Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Marietta’s Place in Manchester, Iowa. Dorothy Helen Bernice Kremer was born on September 27, 1929, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Wilhelmina (Seng) Kramer. She graduated from North High School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in 1949. Dorothy married Joseph John Hulbert on March 25, 1950. In 1954, the family moved to Elkader, Iowa.

During her life in Elkader, Dorothy worked at the Clayton County Courthouse, the Ben Franklin Store, and numerous other Elkader businesses, finally retiring from the secretarial position at Peace United Church of Christ in 1995.

Dorothy was a member of Peace UCC, where she had served as council member, Sunday school teacher, confirmation instructor, and volunteered for numerous committees at the church. She loved to be surrounded by her family and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Bonnie (Dennis) Nus of Arlington, Iowa,  Terry (Jeff) Larson of Manchester, Iowa, and Denise (Mike) Rohan of Verona, Wisconsin; four grandchildren and their families, Ericka Simms, Josephine and Isadora of Williamsville, New York, Nicholas (Angela) Rohan, Sawyer and Isla of Verona, Wisconsin, Adam Larson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kristin (Sam) Milroy and Aurora of Manchester, Iowa; her twin sister, Delores Gibson of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Jim Hulbert of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, sister-in-law, Janis Rediske of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorial services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, Iowa with Pastor Andrea Mericle officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church Inurnment is at East Side Cemetery, Elkader
