Brian Hanger, Luke Rickleff, Hunter Sheckler, Brandon Granzow, Jack Feye and Mike Granzow earned All Conference recognition for the 2013 season in the SWC.

 

Six Prairie football players named to All Conference teams

Six players for the Prairie du Chien High School football team have been named All Conference for the 2013 season in the SWC. 

Luke Rickleff, a senior tight end was named to the First Team Offense. 

Mike Granzow, a senior lineman, was named to the Second Team Offense.

All of his hard work has paid off and Derek Carrier is now on an NFL active roster. The San Francisco 49ers promoted tight end Carrier from the practice squad to the 53-man roster Saturday afternoon in anticipation of the 49ers versus New Orleans Saints football game. Carrier wears number 46.

33rd Annual Turkey Trot Nov. 28

Prairie du Chien’s Jack Mulrooney will once again serve as the official starter to get the 33rd annual Turkey Trot off and running on Thursday, Nov. 28 at Hoffman Hall.  

Registration is from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and the run-walk starts at 8 a.m. Registration can also be done online at http://pdc.recdesk.com/recdeskportal.

Prairie runners enjoy Sectional Cross Country Meet

Saturday, Oct. 26 marked the end of the Prairie du Chien Cross Country team’s season with the WIAA Sectional meet in Monroe. The girls’ performance earned them a 14th-place finish at the meet, with 353 points. Seniors Claire Bowar (48th, 17:43) Liz LaHaie (80th, 19:08) and Kelly Heal (87th, 19:44) capped off their careers with a final race for the Blackhawks. 

“All three of these girls drastically improved their times from last year’s sectional race, despite the windy conditions we faced today,” said Coach Alli Tank.

Bridgette Myers of River Ridge had 15 service aces in the match. Roni Zinkle recorded 6.

Highland defeated host River Ridge 49-18 in Six Rivers football action Friday afternoon in Bloomington. 

The game was held at 4 p.m. due to the referees having a scheduling conflict. 

Highland scored 24 points in the opening quarter on a 47-yard run, a 1-yard run and a 25-yard run, all followed by 2-point conversion runs.

PdC, Seneca play in Aquinas volleyball tournament

This past Saturday, the Prairie du Chien volleyball team placed third overall in the La Crosse Aquinas Tournament with a 3-2 record. 

Prairie du Chien lost to Holmen by scores of 25-19, 17-25 and 10-15.

The Lady Blackhawks then defeated Greenwood 25-20 and 25-19. 

The team also defeated Seneca 25-19 and 25-20.

Prairie du Chien Waterhawks fourth in SWC swim meet

 

The Prairie du Chien Waterhawks took fourth place at the Southwest Wisconsin Conference Swim Meet on Saturday, July 27. Held in Lancaster, the meet included teams from Boscobel, Dodgeville, Lancaster, Mineral Point and Richland Center.
