Riverdale ends Seneca’s baseball season

Visiting Riverdale defeated Seneca 4-2 in a WIAA Division 4 Regional final baseball game on Wednesday, June 1.

Top-seeded Seneca fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ashton Swanson singled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run.

Hornets edge Timberwolves

Caydon Lomas of Wauzeka-Steuben takes a lead off of second base as Jared Breuer of River Ridge defends.

Mitchell Colson came through with a 2-out, 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Wauzeka-Steuben baseball team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over River Ridge in a regional semi-final on May 26. 

The Hornets improved to 17-5 on the season and advanced in the WIAA playoffs. River Ridge ended its season with a 7-13 overall record.

The Prairie du Chien baseball team blanked visiting Lancaster 4-0 in a D2 Regional semifinal on May 26 at St. Feriole Island Ballpark.

Prairie scored lone runs in each of the first, third, fourth and fifth innings.

Potosi improved to 4-4 in conference action. River Ridge went to 0-8 in the Six Rivers West.

On a beautiful Friday evening, the Prairie du Chien/River Ridge/Seneca Hawks hosted the Platteville/Lancaster Hillwomen for their second girls soccer match of the season.  

The Hawks celebrated Senior Night, and honored their four seniors, Clare Fritsche, Hailie Myers, Jillian Kruempel, and Megan Steiber.

On May 20, visiting and undefeated Boscobel defeated Prairie du Chien 9-2 in a nonconference softball game.

Prairie du Chien went to 18-6 on the season.

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks baseball team defeated Dodgeville 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in Prairie du Chien.

Maddox Cejka pitched a 7-inning no-hitter for the Blackhawks. The righthander only allowed 1 walk and struck out 6 on his way to the victory.
