Terry Charles Schmidt

 

Terry Charles Schmidt, 56, Farmersburg, Iowa, died suddenly Friday, October 25, 2013, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, Iowa. Terry was born on February 11, 1957, in Prairie du Chien Wisconsin, to Carl (Bud) Elmer and Vergean Mae (Freitag) Schmidt. Terry graduated from MFL High School with the class of 1975.

Terry Charles Schmidt, 56, of Farmersburg, died suddenly Froday, October 25, 2013. Visitation was Monday, October 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home, Monona. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 29, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. A full obituary will appear in the November 6 issue of the Clayton County Register.

Margaret Thiese

 

Margaret Ann Thiese, 88, of Charles City, formerly of Elkader, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at Cedar Health in Charles City, IA.  As were her wishes, she was cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.

She is survived by a brother, Norman Thrasher, nieces and nephews, and close friends Ron and Marilyn Venz and family.

Judy Troester Manning

 

Judy Ann Troester Manning, 60, passed from this life on September 16, 2013, at her home in Spring, Texas.  Judy’s cremated remains were buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery during a burial service held on Saturday October 19, 2013.

Judy was born on August 5, 1953 in McGregor, IA.  She was the fourth child of Raymond and Marjonell Troester. Her early years were spent on the farm with her family.  Judy lived in Elkader with the Hamiltons, a loving family, from 7th grade until graduation from High School.

Alan Deane “Al” Werger

 

Alan Deane “Al” Werger, 60, of Monona, Iowa died Friday, October 11, 2013, at his home in Monona. He was born on December 16, 1952, to Deane and Marilyn (Greene) Werger in Postville, Iowa. Al graduated from Garnavillo High School and then attended two years of college at Area 1 in Calmar, Iowa for farm mechanics.

Thomas Landsgard

 

Thomas Arthur “Tom” Landsgard, 54, of Elgin, Iowa died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, Iowa. He was born on March 11, 1959, in Postville, Iowa, to Emery and Anna Mae (Mork) Landsgard. Tom graduated from Valley High School and continued his education at Wartburg College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.

Tom was an agricultural farmer with his family all of his life. He was intrigued with science and history, and enjoyed travel, reading, and the outdoors.

A celebration of life service was held for Robert H. Zerkle, at Hoard Museum in Fort Atkinson, WI on October 5, 2013, at 1 p.m.  

Robert is survived by his wife (former Lois Martin), their son Gregory and his wife (Cynthia Marty), sister-in-law Elaine Syverson, Elkader, brother-in-law, Virgil Martin, Anamosa and nieces and nephews.

Thomas A. “Tom” Landsgard, 54, of Elgin, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, Iowa. 

Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Marion Lutheran Church with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating. Interment will follow at the Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa.

Douglas Arthur Carl Buckman

 

Douglas Arthur Carl Buckman, 54, of Sugarland, Texas, and former of Garnavillo, died September 21, 2013. He was born April 13, 1959, in Prairie du Chien, WI to Don and Donna (Robinson) Buckman. During his younger years, he played baseball and golfed. Douglas lived in Garnavillo through high school, where he ran cross-country and was on the track team. He graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1977. He then attended Iowa State University, from 1977-1981, and graduated from ISU with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Michael John Nading

 

Michael “Mike” John Nading, 34, of Corydon passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013.

Michael was born September 14, 1978 to Vickie and William Nading in Manchester, Iowa.  Michael was baptized in infancy at the United Church of Christ in Elkader, Iowa. He was a 1997 graduate of Seymour Community High School and also served three years in the U.S. Army, where he met and married Ann Marie Maidher in Honolulu, Hawaii, March 2000. To this union two boys were born: Zebulun and Zachary.
