Jeanne Novey

 

Jeanne M. Novey, 87, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, April 4, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

She was born April 3, 1927 in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Clarence and Wilhelmina (Campbell) Welsch. She married Edward Novey on Nov. 30, 1946 at St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1990. Jeanne was devoted to her family and over the years enjoyed hosting many holidays and family events. Jeanne loved playing cards, fishing and was an avid Wisconsin Badger, Green Bay Packer and Tiger Woods fan.

Bernice Theresa Schaefers

 

Bernice Theresa Schaefers, 79, of Monona, Iowa died Thursday, April 3, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. 

She was born on April 15, 1934 to Casper and Mary (Lucher) Schaefers in Clayton, Iowa. Bernice was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Garnavillo, Iowa.

Reed F. Lestina

 

Reed F. Lestina, 70, of Muscoda and formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 4, at the Richland Hospital in Richland Center. 

He was born March 10, 1944 in Giard, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Alma (Cunningham) Lestina. He married Carol “Sue” Cejka in Monona, Iowa in 1976 and she preceded him in death in 2007. Reed worked as a logger and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed his CB Radio where he was known as the “Iowa Bullfrog.”

Jim E. Teynor

 

Jim E. Teynor, 40, of Wauzeka, died suddenly Tuesday, April 1, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

He was born June 20, 1973 in La Crosse, the son of Clarence and Janice (Furr) Teynor. Jim was currently working as a correctional officer for the Prairie du Chien Correctional Institute. He loved horses and Harleys, and was an avid hunter. He was always the life of the party and was described by friends and family as being truly happy.

Loren D. Sullivan, Plano, Texas died March 12, at the age of 84. Services were held March 25 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Richard "Dick" Loren Tyler

 

 Richard “Dick” Loren Tyler, 71, of La Crosse and formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away on Sunday, March 30, in his home. 

He was born June 8, 1942 to Richard and Alice (Stein) Tyler. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching animals, baking donuts and bread and especially spending time with his family.

Betty Miller

 

Betty Miller, 84, of Red Wing formerly from Luana, Iowa, died peacefully Saturday, March 29, at St. Brigid’s in Red Wing. 

Betty was born to Eliza and Bert Bruehahn on the family farm outside of Monona, Iowa on May 23, 1929. Betty grew up and attended school in Monona. She married Merle Miller on July 23, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luana. They farmed north of Luana for more than 30 years. Betty also worked outside of the home at Luana Tap and Monona Wire. In addition, she sewed beautiful western wear for River Junction Trading Company in McGregor, for many years. Betty also enjoyed ceramics, creating many beautiful pieces for us to remember her by.

Mary Check

 

Mary A. Check, 59, of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, March 29, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, after a brief illness. 

She was born May 22, 1954 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Dr. John and Margaret (Youngblood) Check. Mary worked at Advance Transformer in Boscobel, for over 20 years and most recently for Miniature Precision Components in Prairie du Chien. She loved animals, gardening and was an avid Packer and Brewer fan. 

She is survived by her brother Paul Check of Cartersville, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Delores Fiddler

 

Delores A. Fiddler, 79, of McGregor, Iowa, died Friday, March 28, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor. 

Delores Ann, the daughter of Henry and Ann Mary (Salic) Rademaker, was born April 16, 1934 in Winnebago, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Faith. She attended school in Granada, Minn. Delores was united in marriage with Paul Fiddler on Aug. 2, 1950 in Butler, Kan. To this union, five children were born. Delores was a homemaker and farm wife. She worked at Northern Engraving in Lansing, Iowa for a short time and then helped her husband, Paul, run Fiddler’s Bait Shop in McGregor, Iowa.
