Arnold Bland

Arnold “Tony” Dean Bland, 87, of Marquette, Iowa, died Saturday, July 5, at his home in Marquette, Iowa. 

He was born on Aug. 12, 1926, to Freborn and Rosa E. (Billington) Bland in Waterloo, Iowa. Tony attended Lowell Elementary and Waterloo West High School. He entered the Army and served in WWII and the Korean War.

Charles "Pat" Schreck

 

Charles “Pat” Schreck, 84, of Gays Mills and formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away on June 27, at the Bland Bekkedal Hospice House in Viroqua.

Charles was born to Charles and Katherine (Williams) in Steuben on Sept. 7, 1929. He married Jeannine (Larmore) on June 30, 1952. They farmed for 30 years in the Seneca area and later moved to Prairie du Chien where he was employed as the maintenance supervisor at Martin Luther Preparatory School for 25 years before retiring. Charles enjoyed playing Euchre, watching the Cubs and Badgers, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He disliked talking on the telephone.

Dale Edward Bittner

 

Dale Edward Bittner, 61, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, June 28, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa, after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. 

He was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Dale and Gretchen (Bolich) Bittner. Dale and Theresa Mezera committed their marriage to paper on March 4, after being married in their hearts for nearly 25 years. He worked as a draftsman for Dillman Equipment, Gencor Bituma, and various other locations throughout Wisconsin and Iowa.

Emily Louise Moody

 

Emily Louise Moody, 100, of McGregor, Iowa passed away on June 19. 

She was born on April 28, 1914 in Lodi, Wisc. the daughter of John F. and Bertha (Montross) Mahlke. After graduating from high school in Lodi, in 1932, she went to Chicago, Ill. where she was a telephone operator and later a clerk for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for twelve years.

On Aug. 12, 1939, she married Lewis Moody in Chicago, Ill. They continued to live and work in Chicago until 1948 when they moved to rural McGregor, Iowa.

Kathy Rosauer

 

Kathy A Kelly Rosauer, 58, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, June 12, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, following a brief illness. 

She was born May 14, 1956 in Wabasha, Minn. the daughter of Arthur and Marvel (Meyer) Wagner. She married James Kelly on May 27, 1972, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1992. She later married Bernard Rosauer on April 20, 2002. Bernie also preceded Kathy in death on April 14, 2010. She worked for the Opportunity Center for many years and most recently for Miniature Precision Components in Prairie du Chien. Kathy loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing.

Elizabeth June Schwarzhoff - Berns

 

Elizabeth June Schwarzhoff-Berns, 94, of Prairie du Chien, died Saturday, May 31, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born March 18, 1920, to Gephardt and Reva (Gilson) Meskimen in Waukon, Iowa. Elizabeth graduated from Waukon High School in 1938, and Beauty School in 1940.

Betty was united in marriage with Aloysius “Scoop” Schwarzhoff in January 1941, at St Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa. He passed away Aug. 16, 1980. She later married Roland Berns in March of 1987, and he passed away in May of 2003.
