Helen I. Borth

 

Helen I. Borth, 93, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, at her home. 

She was born April 4, 1921 in Luana, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Leta (Rennpage) Nagel. She married Harold Borth on Dec. 6, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1991.

Helen worked for McGregor Loudspeaker for over 20 years and later at Advance Transformer in Boscobel, until her retirement.

Earl F. Winslow

 

Earl F. Winslow of Eastman died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 1, at his home. 

He was born June 9, 1948 in Shullsburg, the son of Roy and Marjorie (Walrack) Winslow. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Shirley Taylor May 21, 1990 in Cherry Valley, Ill. Earl worked for Chrysler in Rockford, Ill. as a body man until his retirement. 

He is survived by his sons, Matthew of La Crosse, Brian of Rockford, Ill. and Travis of Cherry Valley, Ill., his brothers, Duane, Dean and Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother Kenny.

Addie Millin

 

Addie Millin, 77, died on Thursday, Sept. 4, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. surrounded by her family. 

She was born on July 5, 1937 to Earl and Martha Pulda in Wauzeka.

Addie attended Wauzeka High School where she met Lonnie Millin, and they married on Sept. 18, 1954. They lived in Prairie du Chien, until they moved to Hudson, in 1973, and in 1994 they settled in Danbury. They were blessed with four children. In 1992 Addie retired from 3M after 22 years as an administrative assistant.

Santos T. Luna

 

Santos T. Luna, 81, of Cuba City, died Saturday, Aug. 30, at home. 

Santos was born May 11, 1933, in Chloride, N.M.,
the son of Santos V. and Rafealita (Trujillo) Luna. He married Elizabeth M. Webster on Dec. 23, 1955, in Waukegan, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Santos worked at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works.

Santos loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed horses. Music was everything to Santos and he played in numerous bands. He enjoyed being with family at all of their get-togethers.

Cecelia A. "Penny" Walz

 

Cecelia A. “Penny” Walz, 75, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, Aug. 29, at Bluffhaven Assisted Living in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born Aug. 8, 1939 in Milwaukee, the daughter of George and Eva (Fuchak) Gosseck. She married Thomas Walz on May 1, 1965 in Chicago, Ill.. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1993.

Scott M. Maurer

 

Scott M. Maurer, 41, of Eastman and formerly of Bay City died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 26, at his home surrounded by his family. A celebration of Scott’s life was Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Eastman. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien assisted the family.

Dorothy Doan, 84, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Fennimore, died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. 

Dorothy was born on June 26, 1930 in Werley, the daughter of J. Leonard and Monica (Meinertz) Fry. She married Royce Doan on July 17, 1948.

Winsome "Winnie" Halverson

 

Winsome “Winnie” A. O’Brien Halverson, 68, of McGregor died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. from complications of a recent heart surgery.

She was born Nov. 28, 1945 in Boscobel, the daughter of Everett and Helen (Olson) O’Brien. She grew up on the family farm and worked in Human Services for Crawford County for many years. She married William Halverson on Sept. 19, 1997 in Prairie du Chien. Winnie worked at the Coaches Restaurant and Zinkle’s Piggly Wiggly in Prairie du Chien. She then managed the Alexander Hotel Café for several years. She was always active in her community and family life, and enjoyed her membership in the First Lutheran Church of McGregor.

Florence Erickson

 

Florence C. Erickson, 86, of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Prairie Maison Health Center. 

She was born March 1, 1928 the daughter of Francis and Orella (Cox) Layde. She married Gayhart “Bart” Erickson on June 19, 1948 at the St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Florence spent her career as the Crawford County Register of Deeds until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Holy Family Parish and truly enjoyed her trips to Lady Luck in McGregor.
