Dianne G. (Zinkle) Bird

 

Dianne G. (Zinkle) Bird, 80, of Seneca passed away Friday, Oct. 3, at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen. 

She was born Aug. 8, 1934 the daughter of Aloysius and Gertrude (Schmidt) Zinkle. She married the love of her life, Ronnie Bird, on Oct. 19, 1953, in Boscobel. They farmed in the Seneca area since 1960. Her goal in life was to serve others. Family and friends knew this better than most. She looked forward to family milestones, deer hunting and Christmas; because family would surround her. She taught love and patience and was an excellent example of how a wife and mother should live.

Rose "Rosie" Marie Dworak

 

Rose “Rosie” Marie Dworak, 87, of La Crosse, died Thursday, Sept. 25, in her home. 

She was born in Prairie du Chien, on Feb. 2, 1927, to David R. and Rose (White) Gentes. She married Lyle J. Dworak on Aug. 7, 1948, in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien, and celebrates 65 years of marriage.

Kathryn (Kay) Frances Kozelka

 

Kathryn (Kay) Frances Kozelka, 64, was called to heaven on Sept. 23, after a long battle with cancer. She fought with grace and courage, always staying positive and living each day to the fullest. 

She was born on Jan. 2, 1950, to Kenneth and Mary (Sabins) DuCharme. She grew up in rural Seneca, where she was proud to be raised on a farm, making memories with her brothers. Family remained the most important thing to Kay throughout her life.

Linda Schulkamp

 

Linda Schulkamp, 64, former owner/operator of the Valley View Inn and West Grant High School board member, has passed away. 

Linda and her family were residents of Grant County for many years and met wonderful customers at the Valley View Inn who became friends. Linda employed many West Grant students and taught them about work ethic and success. 

Linda is survived by her husband, Dan; her children, David and Darcie; and her grandchildren, Isaiah and Hayden.

Jenny Jeanne (Conlon) Manning

 

Jenny Jeanne (Conlon) Manning, 51, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, Sept. 21, at her home. 

She was born on Nov. 23, 1962 to Rodger and Ann (Koenig) Conlon in Dubuque, Iowa. Jenny graduated from Wahlert High School in Dubuque, Iowa. She also attended Capri College for Cosmetology and graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, with a business degree. Jenny settled in McGregor, and worked as a cosmetologist in her own shop, “Jenny’s Shear Magic,” where she enjoyed her elderly clientele and the surrounding community.

Floyd F. Lemke

 

Floyd F. Lemke, 91, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Racine, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, at the Prairie Maison Care Center in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born Dec. 23, 1922 in Kenosha, the son of Frederick and Nellie (Woodward) Lemke. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He married Lois Sheffer on Nov. 12, 1949 at Christ Methodist Church in Racine. Floyd worked as an engineer for Dynamatic Corporation in Racine for many years until his retirement. He was known as a great “handyman” among family and friends and was an avid fisherman.

Allen LeRoy Koecke

 

Allen LeRoy Koecke, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 10. 

He was born on May 14, 1926, in Prairie du Chien. Allen was united in marriage to Loretta Barrette. She preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps proudly serving towards the end of World War II. Allen worked at various grocery stores and was a very loyal member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed traveling, exploring Europe and Alaska but truly treasured most the times spent at their summer lakeside home on Winter Lake.

Ronald Paul Martin

 

Ronald Paul Martin, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sept. 17 after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Ron was born Christmas day, 1945, in Prairie du Chien to Paul and Cleo (Groom) Martin. 

Ron leaves behind is wife, Ana; daughter Terri; sons Steven (Jenny) and David (Katie); grandsons Braylon and Jacob; and siblings Frank (Sue), Terri (Rich) Messling, Linda Messling, Mike (Deb). He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rita and brother Steve.
