Marcia Hagensick

 

Marcia Lynn Hagensick, 56, of Lynxville, died Sunday, Aug. 18, at her home surrounded by her family.

Marcia was born in Madison on May 31, 1957 to William B. and Lucille (Helgerson) Turner. She grew up in Fairview and attended Seneca schools. She was later united in marriage to Paul Hagensick. Marcia dearly loved children and especially enjoyed taking them to the Falling Rock Walleye Club Kid’s Day every year. She was a very kind and gentle person who will be dearly missed.

Dorothy McLaughlin

 

Dorothy Corrinne (Sass) McLaughlin passed away on June 22.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the time of service.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien assisted the family.

Catherine Remy

 

Catherine T. Remy, 62, of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in LaCrosse, after an extended illness. 

She was born Oct. 28, 1950, in Berwyn, Ill. the daughter of Harold and Helen (Surd) Hall. She worked for Homeward Bound and later Lori Knapp Inc. in Prairie du Chien for many years and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. Cathi was an adamant caregiver and in some circles known as “the cookie lady.” She enjoyed bowling and gardening but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Theresa Powers

 

Theresa M. “Tres” Powers, 101, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

Theresa Marie, the daughter of John and Martha (Ness) Marking, was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Milwaukee. She grew up in Owen, Wis. and graduated from Owen High School in 1929. She went on to receive a degree from Eau Claire Teachers College in 1934 and she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Education degree from LaCrosse State Teachers College. Tres taught in the Moody, Curtiss, Neillsville, Mt. Horeb, and Beloit, Wisconsin schools. Theresa was united in marriage with Reuben Powers on Sept. 9, 1946, and they settled in Prairie du Chien.

Richard Mason

 

 Richard “Rick” Mason, 66, passed away Saturday, July 6, in Empangeni, South Africa from complications from surgery.

He was born Oct. 9, 1946, the son of Nickolas Mason and Sylva (Davis) Day. He graduated from West Grant High School in 1964. Following high school he served in the United States Air Force as an air-craft Mechanic. He worked mainly in Alaska and Hawaii, but loved sailing and was on his second time around of the world at the time of his passing.

Harley C. Scherrer

 

Harley C. Scherrer, 75, a loving husband and father, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, after a long and difficult battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).

Harley was born on Jan. 21, 1938, in Rock Island, Ill. to Charles and Meta Scherrer. He married Rosalie A. McDowell on March 14, 1959. Harley graduated from Rock Island High School in 1956. He began his long career as a carpenter with an apprenticeship at Greenleaf Construction. He worked many years as a carpenter in and around the Quad City area. Harley worked for Russell Construction for 16 years as a superintendent, retiring in 2000.

Mary Jane Hermsen

 

Mary Jane Hermsen, 85, of Bloomington, died Saturday, Aug. 17, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. 

She was born in rural Glen Haven on May 8, 1928, the daughter of Dennis and Harriet “Sis” (Hochhausen) Rogers. Mary Jane graduated from Bloomington High School in 1946. She married Roy F. Hermsen on November 9, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bloomington. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, bingo, playing cards and working at the family business, Hermsens Ace Hardware. Roy and Mary Jane were founders and co-owners of Holiday Haven Campground for five years, which is known today as Jellystone Campground in Bagley.
