Maxine Golbach

 

Maxine A. (O’Brien) Golbach, 93 years young, and a resident of Madison, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 23, at Agrace HospiceCare.

She was born in Antigo, on Aug. 30, 1920 to Martha (Soman) and James O’Brien. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry Golbach. 

She is survived by children Mark Golbach (Linda Brazill), Marsha Belisle (Joe), Brian, Sara, Elizabeth, and Gregory Golbach; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dale L. McCullick, 70, of Steuben, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, peacefully at home in Steuben with his wife of 51 years beside him.

Roger Goodman

 

Roger M. Goodman, 72, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, Dec. 20, at the Prairie Maison Care Center. 

He was born April 3, 1941, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Merrill and Bernadette (Layde) Goodman. He married Kathleen Gaulke on Oct. 14, 1961, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Roger worked for Leard Bros. Distributing and later for Mergen Wholesale and Trautsche Distributing. He was a member of the Prairie du Chien Fire Department for 24 years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards at the Sawmill and poker machines at Bob’s Bar. His all time favorite past time was playing Bingo on Sunday and Monday nights with his sidekick Dorothy.

Lela Jane McShane

 

Lela Jane McShane, 83, of Luana, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

Jane was born May 1, 1930, to Leslie and Katie Borret (Oherle) Nichols in rural Monona, Iowa. They lived in the rural Big Foot area for a few years and then moved to the Sixteen Area. Jane attended grade school in Sixteen, at Linton #4. She attended Waterville High School. 

Jane was united in marriage to Donald McShane on Oct. 21, 1947, at the Luana Methodist Church in Luana, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Tonya Jane and Kevin Blake.

Ronnie Bird

 

Ronald E. “Ronnie” Bird, 78, of Seneca passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born March 2, 1935, on the family farm near Wauzeka. He married Dianne Zinkle on Oct. 19, 1953, in Boscobel. Together they farmed most of their lives in the Seneca area. Ronnie was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in Seneca and served on the Seneca school board for 21 years. He belonged to the Seneca Fire Department and the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed playing on the Seneca Farmers softball team. He was the founding member of the Bird Olympic Deer Hunting Team.

Elaynah Bartels

 

Elaynah Katherine Joy Bartels, infant daughter of Jeff and Kari (Oswald) Bartels passed away Monday, Dec. 16, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Madison. 

She was born Nov. 1, and is survived by her parents; her brother Alexander Bartels; maternal grandparents Steve (Kathy) Oswald of Wauzeka; paternal grandparents David (Mary) Bartels of Wauzeka; and maternal great grandparents Delores Oswald and Anna Martin.

Robert Martin

 

Robert D. “Bob” Martin, 78, a long-time resident of Gays Mills, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Bland Bekkedal Hospice Center in Viroqua, with his family at his side.

He was born on April 19, 1935, in Gays Mills, the son of the late Byrd and Agnes (Nicholson) Martin, and on June 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Carol Olson at United Methodist Church in Cuba City.

Lorrene Caldwell

 

Lorrene C. Caldwell, 92, of Wauzeka passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

She was born April 26, 1921 in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Christine (Ramondt) Lorenz. She married Clarence Caldwell on Dec. 31, 1947 and he later preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1989. She worked at Chamberlain Ordnance Inc. in Waterloo, Iowa for many years before moving to Wauzeka.

Imogene Mardauss

 

Imogene Matilda (Weighner) Mardauss, 86, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, at Tender Care of Clare, Mich.

Imogene was born Sept. 29, 1927 in Prairie du Chien, to Melvin and Elda Weighner. She attended Prairie du Chien High School and graduated in 1942. She was married to George Mardauss June 12, 1947 in Prairie du Chien and he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1997. Mrs. Mardauss was Lutheran and was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Richard Kilburg

 

 Richard R. “Dick” Kilburg, 79, of Eastman passed away Monday, Dec. 9, at the Prairie Maison Care Center in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born April 15, 1934 in Wauzeka, the son of Alfred and Irene (Schmidt) Kilburg. He served in the U.S. Army and later returned to work on the family farm. Dick was active in the American Legion and did some logging.
