Thomas J. Kautman

Thomas J. Kautman, 84, of McGregor, Iowa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the June 27, 2023.
Tom was the eldest son of Hank and Helen Kautman. He was born at home near Rossville, Iowa on August 19 1938. His family eventually settled in McGregor, Iowa and Tom graduated from Marquette-McGregor HS in 1957. Shortly after graduation, Tom was drafted into the US Army where he reenlisted after his initial draft term. After his military service, Tom worked as a welder for Link-Belt Speeder before getting the opportunity to become an engineer on the railroad where he perfected his craft for 35 years.  
Tom met Joyce (Weiser), the love of his life, in 1968 in Prairie du Chien, Wisc.. The two were married July 11, 1970. They owned a bar in McGregor for a time before purchasing a farm just south of McGregor where they raised their two daughters, Christine and Paula. These daughters eventually brought six grandchildren into their lives.

Cheryl Mader

Cheryl Mader, 73, of Prairie du Chien passed away tragically on June 25, 2023.
Cheryl was born on November 18, 1949 in Appleton, Wisc. to Arlon and Laverne Mader. Her parents both passed away when she was a child and her step-father Louis Van Rossum played a key role in raising her. She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1968 and earned degrees in Communications and Accounting from UW-Madison.
Cheryl married Dale Klemme in 1978 and raised three children Tony, Betsy, and Tim. Cheryl and Dale partnered together on adventures and journeys through her entire life.
She was an accountant and CPA by trade with career capstones as Corporate Controller at Monona Wire Inc, and COO at Lori Knapp & Co. Cheryl was elected mayor of Prairie du Chien and served from 2004 to 2008.

Jean L. Tippery

Jean L. Tippery, 77, passed away peacefully at 10:09 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Northwest Health, La Porte.
Jean was born September 2, 1945 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to Lloyd C. and Virginia (Cauffman) Toberman.
On September 5, 2016, in Union Mills, she married Tom Tippery who survives.
Jean was a 1963 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School. Jean attended the University of Wisconsin as an undergraduate and received her Master’s Degree at Indiana University.  She taught for 36 years at La Porte Community Schools.  She remembered all of her former students and had a love for them all.  Jean enjoyed going to luncheons with fellow teachers and church members. She loved going to church and also had a love for animals, Louis L’Amour books, crafts, and game shows. Jean took a delight in spending time with her grandchildren and loved them all.

Jesse “Jack” John Heisz

Jesse “Jack” John Heisz passed away at home on June 26, 2023. Born September 16, 1924, to Edward and Mollie (Briggs) Heisz. Jesse was the third oldest of thirteen children.
He was united in marriage on December 3, 1949, to Betty Ann (Anna) Markin at the Bell Center Church. Together they had eight children: Patti (Dennis) Tonne, Mara Lee Heisz, Jessie (Darrell) Cooper, Peter Heisz, Carrie (Ron) Tarpein, Billy (Grace) Heisz, Andy (friend Tina) Heisz, and Charlie (Wanda) Heisz; eighteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by his sister, Emogene (Jack) Ehle, and his brother Lawrence (Peck) Heisz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; his siblings, Lincoln (Gene), Francis (Dutch), Charles, Sarah Steines, Bernard, Ruth Vermillion, Donald, Margie Knoble, Emmett, and Clarence; and grandson, Blade Prinz.

Brian L. Fisher

Brian L. Fisher, age 55 of Eastman, Wisc. passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was born on October 20, 1967, the son of Loyd and Judy (Payne) Fisher. He grew up in Eastman before moving with his family to Knoxville, IL, where he graduated high school. He then obtained an associate degree in agriculture before moving back to Eastman to farm.
He worked for Waste Management and drove semi-trucks and dump trucks for several different companies including Prairie Sand & Gravel and Fahrner Asphalt Sealers. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting for deer, turkey, and bear.

Richard (Dick) Carl Jones

Richard (Dick) Carl Jones of Patch Grove, Wisc. passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023. He was 83 years old. Dick was married to Janet Jones (Matousek) for 63 years, he had seven children, 16 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Dick had enjoyed over 25 years of retirement from being a Local 139 and Local 150 Operating Engineer, where he served those years as an operator and superintendent for Rock Road and as a superintendent for Ryan Inc. He also enjoyed being a small craft airplane pilot, and kept his Cessna and airplane hangar in Prairie Du Chien, Wisc. He and his wife Janet spent many of his retirement years wintering in Florida in their RV. He also loved fishing, his antique cars, doing improvement projects, and spending time on the Mississippi on the family campground.

Mary M. White

Mary M. White, age 85 of Prairie du Chien died on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on October 5, 1937 on the family farm in Plum Creek, to Lawrence and Irma (Nachreiner) Boylen.
She married Edward J. White on August 9, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wauzeka, Wisc. Mary and Ed were the proud parents of three boys. She was a devoted wife and mother. Over the years, she attended countless ballgames and was a great fan of her sons and grandchildren. She was always up for a game of cards, and if there was a little time to talk on the phone, her day was complete.
Mary was an active member of St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish. She was instrumental in establishing the Prairie du Chien Booster Club. Mary volunteered in the library at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in Prairie du Chien and was always willing to help as needed.

Melody Anne Moose

Melody Anne Moose, 57 of McGregor, Iowa passed away at her home on June 13, 2023. Melody was born August 13, 1965 to Terrence and Winsome (O’Brien) Zinkle in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1983.
In 1991, Melody was united in marriage with Brian Frommelt. They later divorced. On August 22, 2009 Melody was united in marriage with Dennis Moose. He passed away on February 28, 2017. Throughout the years, Melody worked a variety of jobs, the latest being an Auto Detailer. She enjoyed going for rides, “Sunday Fundays”, watching Sanford and Sons and Wheel of Fortune, scrolling on facebook, dancing, and listening to music.

Arthur Gerald Valley (a.k.a. Art or Jerry)

Arthur Gerald Valley (a.k.a. Art or Jerry), passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023, making it to his 82nd birthday, with his wife, (Mary) Jane (Rodenkirch), and eldest son, Jeff, by his side.
Born in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. on May 28, 1941, to Arthur and Lorraine (DeRusha) Valley, Art was raised in Prairie du Chien and attended Prairie du Chien High School, graduating in 1959 at which time he joined the National Guard and worked locally. In the summer of 1962, as fate would have it, his best friend’s (Virgil Rodenkirch) little sister visited from California. Catching Art’s eye, he said to Virg, “your little sister has grown up!” That winter, Art took his interest in Mary Jane to the next level by traveling to California to ask for her hand in marriage. They were married June 29,1963. Art and Mary Jane settled in Janesville, Wisc. where Art had a 30-year career with General Motors.

Joan Mae (Steege Marchionda) Martin

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt, teacher and business owner will always be remembered.
Muscoda, Wisc. - Joan Mae (Steege Marchionda) Martin, age 80, of Muscoda, Wisc., passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and support of her daughters at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wisc., on June 13, 2023. Prior to her stay at Agrace, she was under the excellent care of CrestRidge Memory Care in Dodgeville, Wis., for three and a half years. She battled dementia with grace for nearly ten years. She was born on March 3, 1943, in Winona, Minn., to the late Stanton and Wilhelmina Steege.
