Richard J. "Dick" Cherrier

 

Richard J. “Dick” Cherrier, 76, of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, at his home. 

He was born Oct. 24, 1937 in Prairie du Chien the son of Clarence and Anastasia (Phillip) Cherrier. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Jackie Selheim on Jan. 24, 1959 at St. Bernard’s Church in Madison. Dick worked as an electrician for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad which would later become the Union Pacific. He retired after over 30 years of service in 2000. Dick enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles and spending time on the Mississippi River.

 Joseph B. Balk, 86, of Dodgeville, passed quietly at Siena Crest Assisted Living in Mineral Point on April 21, 2014.

He was born of Joseph and Anna Balk on May 23, 1927,  in Prairie du Chien.

Kathryn Evan

Kathryn M. Evans, age 93, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Sunday, December 29,  (see full obituary in Dec. 30, 2013 Courier Press).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish with interment in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  Friends may call on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien from 10:30 a.m. until the time of departure for the church.  www.garrityfuneralhome.com

Orva Payne

Orva E. Payne age 80 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.  She was born December 28, 1933 in Seneca, WI the daughter of William and Elnora (Tyrer) Payne.  Orva worked for many years as a waitress in Madsion, WI.  She is survived by her sisters, Elaine Gaston of Waterloo, IA, Delena Spink of Stoughton, WI and Norma (Donald) Richmond of Oregon, WI, her brothers, Wayne Payne of Livingston, WI and Stephen (Connie) Payne of Pine, CO along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Vilas and Arley, her sisters, Nola Jean and Lorraine, brothers in law, Donald Gaston and Louie Spink along with a sister in law Janet Payne.

James Reising

James Eugene Reising, 83, of Wauzeka, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Prairie Maison Healthcare Center in Prairie du Chien.

He was born April 22, 1930 the son of Eugene and Francis (Fitzmaurice) Reising. James started as a first generation farmer in Harvard, Ill., later moving to Wauzeka to continue farming in 1973. James was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida after retiring and loved golfing and his John Deere tractors. He married Dorothy Weidner in Harvard, Ill., on Sept. 5, 1953. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1987.

Theresa Marso

Theresa Marie Marso, born Aug. 5, 1940, in Prairie du Chien, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, at her home in Ocala, Fla., as a result of ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease. 

She was the daughter of Vencil G. and Mildred M. (Mara) Forst.

She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1958. Theresa worked at National Decorated Metal, in Prairie du Chien, after graduation.

John Wolfram

John J. Wolfram, age 78, of Prairie du Chien, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 16, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.

John was born Nov. 19, 1935, in Warren, Ill., the son of Cletus and Florence (Murray) Wolfram. He married Glenda Bennett on June 1, 1957, in Shullsburg. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Glenda Wolfram of Prairie du Chien, his daughter Deborah (Dean) Eckhoff, of Oxford, Ohio; his sons, Steven (Karen) Wolfram of Menomonee Falls, and Daniel (Patcharee) Wolfram, of Bangkok, Thailand; his sister Marge (John) Thornton, of Marshfield; along with six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Christine West

Christine “Chrisy” West, age 46, died April 11, in Hermitage, Tenn.

Christine was born February 26, 1986, to Ronald and Diane Lawrence of Eastman. 

She is survived by her husband Jeff West, her parents, Ron and Diane Lawrence, of Eastman; her sister Lea Discher, of Janesville; children Trevor Lornson-Korrie West, Amber Lornson and Alec Lornson.

Services were held Friday, April 18. There will be a memorial service held in Eastman at a later date.
