Rosemary Waltz

 

Rosemary A Waltz, 84, of Boscobel passed away on Sunday Oct. 20, at Boscobel Area Hospital.

She was born April 29, 1929 in Hickory Grove Township, the daughter of Carl and Teresa (Schuhart) Kretschman. She married Joseph Waltz on May 1, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.

Donald Knapp

 

Donald L. Knapp, 91, of Dubuque, Iowa (formerly of Marquette, Iowa), died Saturday, Oct. 19, at his home in Dubuque, Iowa. 

Donald Leroy Knapp, the son of Archie and Violet (Kohl) Knapp, was born Jan. 21, 1922 in McGregor, Iowa. Donald served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. Donald was united in marriage with Lois Tindell on June 25, 1946 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa. He worked as a mechanic at John Deere and H & W Motor Express in Dubuque until he retired in 1987. He and Lois also owned and operated trailer parks in Dubuque, McGregor and Prairie du Chien.

LeRoy Trautsch

 

LeRoy L. Trautsch, 64, of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. 

He was born March 2, 1949 in Prairie du Chien the son of Lyle and Rose (Mezera) Trautsch. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Deanna Pulda on Oct. 3, 1987 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman. LeRoy worked at 3M Company in Prairie du Chien for over 30 years. He enjoyed softball, golfing and playing cards.

Mary Thomas

 

Mary Lana Malcom Wendel Thomas, 73, of Prairie du Chien, (formerly of Decatur, Ill.) passed away on Oct. 17. 

Lana was the oldest daughter of Wayne R. Malcom and Margie M. (Penn) Malcom. She was a graduate of the “Class of ‘57,” Lakeview High School. Throughout the years she worked at Soy Capitol Bank, Muellers, Clyde Dial Construction Company and retired from Caterpillar. She enjoyed fishing, NASCAR races, favorites Kenny Schrader, Bill Elliott, Dale Earnhart and watching her grandchildren grow up. Lana was married to E. Neil Wendel and had two daughters, Trisha Wendel-Hooth and Tracy Wendel-Coffman.

Debra Gucciardo

 

Debra Jean Gucciardo, 59 of Wauzeka ended a long battle with Lupus and related complications on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Gundersen Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 22, 1954 to Ernest and Shirley Swanson in Oak Park Ill., and was a graduate of Belvidere High School. Debra was the beloved wife of Vincent Gucciardo for thirty-seven years. She was fun-loving and proud mother to her three children, Christopher Norem (Nancy McKeown), Sarah (Michael) Chomiak and Emily (David) Bouzek. She was the cherished grandmother of Genevieve, Cecilia and Lillian Bouzek; Megan, Kaitlyn and Colin Norem; and Elizabeth and Amelia Chomiak.

Keith Nichols

 

Keith Floyd Nichols, 93, died on Tuesday morning Oct. 15, at his residence in Mt. Hope. 

He was born on Dec. 16, 1919 in Mt. Hope Township, the son of Wilbur and Carrie Belle (Cairns) Nichols. Keith graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1937. He furthered his education at the Platteville Mining School until returning home to help his father on the farm. 

Keith married Edna Rewey on Jan. 1, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They started farming side by side in Mt. Hope until her death on Oct. 21, 1990.

Violet Bischoff

 

Violet Alice Bischoff, 96, a resident at Walter Schmidt Assisted Living in Prairie du Chien, died Thursday, Oct. 17, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

She was born on Aug. 18, 1917 in Bagley, to Verdie and Amelia “Millie” (Cathman) Clark. Violet was united in marriage with Ervin Bischoff on Aug. 17, 1940 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa.

Alice Kroepel

 

Alice M. Kroepel, 75, of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15. According to Alice’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service at this time. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.  The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.

Marian Foley

 

Marian E. Foley, 74, of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

She was born in Honeycreek Township, on Sept. 9, 1939. She married William Foley on Oct. 22, 1955. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2004. Marian was a devoted mother and grandmother, enjoying her time spent with family. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Brewers and Packers. She also liked watching golf and going fishing.

Susan Waller

 

Susan K. Waller, 60, of Vallejo and formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

She was born Jan. 1, 1953 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Robert and Irene (Schmitz) Waller. Sue worked for Citi Bank in their community reinvestment division for over 25 years. She was proud to help moderate to low income people in the San Francisco Bay area realize their dreams. She was an avid sports fan.
