Roger W. Allert

Roger William Allert, age 74, of McGregor, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. He was born March 7, 1948, the son of LaVerne and Betty (Bachtell) Allert. He grew up in the McGregor area and graduated from Mar-Mac High School. In 1967, Roger and his good friend Carroll “Booner” Henkes enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He drove a tank while serving in the 5th infantry division. After his service, he worked construction in Florida and Texas before moving to McGregor in 1976.

Edwin A. "Ed" Koehn

Edwin “Ed” Arnold Koehn, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Central City, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at his home, at the age of 91. Visitation was May 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service was on May 26, at the funeral home. Family friend Jim Groff officiated. Burial followed at Eastside Elkader Cemetery in Elkader, with full military honors by the Central City American Legion Post #421. In accordance with Ed’s wishes, guests were encouraged to dress casually, most importantly to not wear a tie.
