Delores Wagner

Delores Mary Ellen Wagner, 92, of Monona, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at Great River Care Center, McGregor. Delores was born Sept. 13, 1930, to Alexander and Cecila (Fassbinder) Berns at their rural Monona home. She was the youngest of seven children whom were very close. Family gatherings at the farm were always a highlight while growing up. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Grade School and Monona High School, graduating in 1948.

Lillian A. Schutte

Lillian Ann Walch Schutte, 93, of Postville, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at Good Samaritan Center, Postville. Lillian was born Sept. 13, 1929, at her grandmother’s house in Luana, to John and Frieda Walch. She was baptized Oct. 26, 1929, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, by Pastor Finck and confirmed April 2, 1944, by Pastor Ludwig. Lillian attended school at Luana School where she was active in band.

Patricia Martin

Patricia Rueber Martin of Monona died on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at MercyOne Hospital, Elkader, of cervical cancer. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Monona Cemetery, Monona, with a visitation to follow from 2 to 4 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home, Monona.

Raymond A. Stassen

Raymond Stassen, 92, was born in St. Paul, Minn., the third and youngest son of William R. Stassen and Martha Glewwe Stassen. After a stint in the U. S. Navy, he earned degrees in speech pathology and audiology from the University of Minnesota. During the 30 years of his professional life, he served as the director of clinical audiology programs at teaching hospitals in Minneapolis, New York City and Newark, N.J. Upon retirement, he moved to Elkader, attracted by its small-town charm and the prospect of being neighbors of his treasured friends, the Schiller-Pollock family.

Jeanine Eileen Rodas, 91, of Elkader, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at the Elkader Care Center. She was born Sept. 13, 1931, in Edgewood, to Donald and Clara (Shaw) Rhines. Jeanine graduated from Edgewood High School.

Curtis G. Rentschler

Curtis George Rentschler, 86, of St. Olaf, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022. Curt was born on Aug. 6, 1936, to George and Loretta Rentschler. He was united in marriage to Betty Syverson on Oct. 2, 1955, and they were happily married for 65 years when Betty passed.

Robert “Bob” Rodenberg, age 66, of Garnavillo, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.  He was born on March 15, 1956, in Guttenberg, the son of LeVerl and Ilo (Nuehring) Rodenberg.

Mary P. "Pat" Grady

Mary Patricia Grady of Waterloo, formerly of the McGregor/Monona area, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 19, at Ravenwood Specialty Center in Waterloo. Pat, as she wanted to be called, was born Jan. 28, 1951, to Raymond and Frances (Ambrose) Grady. She grew up on the farm, always tagging along after her dad. She graduated from MarMac High School in 1969. Pat was a proud veteran, having served eight years in the U.S. Army as a medical lab technician. She was honored to receive her Quilt of Valor. She treasured it immensely. Pat also worked several years delivering mail in Clayton County.

Elmer L. Schuety

Elmer L. Schuety, 85, of rural St. Olaf, passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. He was born on Feb. 26, 1937, to Emil and Hilda (Lahrs) Schuety on the family farm near St. Olaf.
