Infrared sauna added to Divine Current

Saunas are thought to have originated in Finland around 7000 B.C. The earliest known sauna structures were dug into the earth and lined with stone. Saunas have long been used for therapeutic and relaxation purposes and have been a part of traditional medicine for many centuries.

New Press delivery day!

Guttenberg Press subscribers should expect their newspapers a day later than usual beginning with next week's issue, May 4.

Beginning on that date, The Press will be printed on Tuesdays in Lancaster, Wis., a change from the usual printing date on Mondays at a plant in Calmar. 

The newspapers will then be delivered on Wednesdays to the Guttenberg post office and The Press office. Copies will be delivered to local news outlets later that day.

Clayton Ridge School board hires new principal

At the regular monthly meeting on April 13, the Clayton Ridge School board hired Terri  Thompson as the principal for grades 6-12. The action came after a special meeting on April 6 to conduct interviews with five candidates for the position.

City to seek grants for major projects

At the regular monthly meeting on April 11, the Guttenberg city council approved numerous grant applications, heard project updates, set the date for a public hearing on a budget amendment and considered a nuisance property issue.

On hand for the meeting were Mayor Fred Schaub, council members Mandy Ludovissy, Austin Greve, Jane Parker, Steve Bahls and Michelle Geuder, along with City Manager Denise Schneider.

The Rotary Club's generosity and dedication to creating a welcoming view as locals and tourists travel throughout our community has beaen a challenging project.

Umbrella Arts (UA) has been a key element in bringing art, in all its various forms, to Guttenberg residents and visitors since 2014. Through the group's dedication, determination and generosity, several art programs have taken root in the community. Most notable are the River of Music Series, Summer Sculpture Contest, and the Historic Limestone Planter project.

Easter egg hunt Saturday at Riverside Playground

Area youngsters are invited to attend the annual Easter egg hunt in Guttenberg to be held Saturday, April 16, at Riverside Playground, 300 South River Park Drive, one block south of Clayton Ridge School. The hunt will begin at 1 p.m.

The event is for youngsters ages 10 and under. Children should bring their own baskets to collect eggs.There will be three individually timed hunts, separated according to age groups.
