Teen taken into custody following break-in reports

At around midnight today (Wednesday, April 8), the Prairie du Chien Police Department responded to the 200 block of East Wisconsin Street for a report of two juveniles looking into the windows of a home. A description was provided by the reporting party of the suspects.

Cheryl A. Hromadka

Cheryl A. Hromadka, 62, of Fennimore, passed away on Sunday evening, April 5, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on March 1, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Eileen (Schumacher) Ritter. Cheryl was united in marriage to Joseph Hromadka on Aug. 17, 1983, in Lancaster.

BREAKING NEWS: The state Supreme Court overturned Gov. Tony Evers' executive order postponing in-person voting in tomorrow's election to June 9. The election now will take place as scheduled tomorrow.

In-person voting suspended

BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Tony Evers ordered in-person voting suspended for Tuesday's election and rescheduled for June 9, unless the state Legislature enacts new legislation to change the election date. All absentee ballots already cast in the spring election will remain valid and will be tallied in conjunction with the new in-person voting date, according to a news release from the governor's office. The Associated Press reports that legislative Republicans are readying an appeal to the state Supreme Court.

The Mississippi River continues to rise. The National Weather Service is predicting the river stage at the McGregor gauge to increase to 19 feet by Wednesday, April 8.

General election still on as scheduled for April 7

In the midst of the Coronavirus crisis is Tuesday’s spring general election.

State and local officials have been emphasizing, instead of going to the polls, voting by absentee ballot. Voters can request absentee ballots at myvote.wi.gov.
